QUENNECT 4 (Q4) CHICAGO

QUENNECT4 IS BORN

Chicago - Feb 2007 - John Ibarra, et. al., in a follow on to his urban youth enterprise campaign, has opened a new front on Chicago's west side on North Avenue near Humbolt park called Quennect4 or Q4 for short.  Drawing on local resources and grit and his guys, his new hang-out is gaining quite a bit of popularity as well as visibility having now hosted several relatively high profile events for public outreash and awareness. Sponsoring non-smoking campaign, dance troops and 'open-mic' call Frequencies Audible to Humans in concert with www.apolloprojects.org on Thursdays, John says he see the coming together of many things that he had worked on over these last several years.  Mr. Ibarra is definitely the brains behind these opertions and refuses to lay any blame for failure on anyone other than himself for why his other projects did not quite take off.  "They were just things I did to learn how to do it right with the right people and contacts". Drop by any time at 2716 West North and California Avenue or drop him a note at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Quennect 4 is an independently-run alternative art-multi use space that supports the intersection of social, political, economical and geographic communities. Q4 focuses on diversity and giving back to the community. Founded by John Ibarra and Fausto Lopez, Q4's very existence is a testament to the necessity of a multilateral vision in the process of cultural (r)evolution. Our dedication to diversity is evident in our events, which range from consciousness-raising parties focused on social justice issues to multi-media art shows exhibiting the work of emerging artist.

When we are not opening our doors to the community, we are knocking on theirs and seeking opportunities to collaborate. Art is a powerful tool for social and political change. It is for these reasons that we actively seek out opportunities to connect artist to the communities they effect.

"do your thing..."

"Art is the heart’s explosion on the world. Music. Dance. Poetry. Art on cars, on walls, on our skins. There is probably no more powerful force for change in this uncertain and crisis-ridden world than young people and their art. It is the consciousness of the world breaking away from the strangle grip of an archaic social order." -Luis Rodriguez
